FRIDAY 30th. April 2010

Official opening by, locally born, Tom Aherne, Head of the Cardio-thoracic surgical unit, Cork University Hospital, who will give a short talk on the legacy of the Irish Country House.

“ Four Million Orphans”
Julian Gough will read “The Orphan and the Mob” and use his award winning story to talk about contemporary Ireland and Irish Literature

Lecture by Heather Ingman

“Elizabeth Bowen and Ireland”. Lecture by Eibhear Walshe Incorporating the screening of the C.B.S. documentary written by Elizabeth Bowen “Ireland, the tear and the smile”.

“North Cork Writers: Short Stories as Poems”.
Lecture by Bernard O’ Donoghue
